KNOW PIVOT ROOFING & SOLAR

Help Before or After You File a Claim

You can contact Pivot at any point in the roof insurance claim process.

Before you file we ensure your significant damages and verify the estimate from the insurance company.

We can meet the adjuster at your property and show the hail marks, lifted shingles, damaged flashing, gutter dents, and other storm damage found during our inspection.

We compare the repair work listed by the insurer with our measurements, photographs, and estimate. If repair items are missing, we can provide additional photographs, material quantities, labor details, and costs for you to send to the insurer.

Once the insurer explains what it will cover and you approve the project, Pivot schedules the work. We provide the final invoice and completion photographs that may be required before the insurer releases any remaining replacement-cost payment.

OUR VALUE

What Roof Damage May Be Covered by Insurance?

Coverage depends on your policy and what caused the damage.

Hail and Wind

Bruised shingles, broken seals, missing shingles, damaged flashing, and dented roof vents may be covered when caused by a covered storm.

Falling Objects

Damage caused by a fallen tree, branch, or windblown object may be covered.

Storm-Created Openings

Interior water damage may be covered when rain enters through an opening created by hail, wind, or falling debris.

Emergency Protection

Reasonable tarping or temporary sealing may be reimbursed. Keep every invoice and receipt.

Wear and Neglect

Old materials, long-term leaks, poor maintenance, and damage that existed before the storm are commonly excluded.

Understand ACV, RCV, Depreciation and Your Deductible

Actual Cash Value is the estimated repair cost after the insurer subtracts depreciation and your deductible.

Replacement Cost Value is based on the covered cost of replacing damaged materials with similar materials. Many insurers pay the ACV amount first and release recoverable depreciation after receiving proof that repairs were completed.

This is the amount you must pay toward a covered claim. Texas contractors cannot waive, refund, rebate, or absorb it.

One Claim Can Include More Than the Roof

The same storm may damage shingles, gutters, siding, fencing, solar panels, and roof-mounted equipment. Pivot can document each affected area and include the work we are qualified to perform in the estimate. Your insurer decides which items the policy covers.

FAQs

Does homeowners insurance cover hail and wind damage to a roof?

Many homeowners policies cover sudden roof damage caused by hail or wind. Coverage can depend on the policy, deductible, exclusions, roof age, previous condition, and whether the damage resulted from a specific storm.

Does homeowners insurance cover a leaking roof?

It depends on what caused the leak. Water entering through an opening created by covered hail, wind, or falling debris may be covered. Leaks caused by aging, poor maintenance, or gradual deterioration are commonly excluded.

Will insurance pay for a complete roof replacement?

Insurance may cover a complete replacement when a covered event causes widespread damage that cannot be repaired properly. If the damage is limited to one area, the insurer may approve a focused repair instead.

How long do I have to file a roof insurance claim?

Claim-reporting deadlines vary by insurance company and policy. Report confirmed storm damage as soon as reasonably possible and check the policy for its notice deadline. Waiting can make it harder to connect the damage to a particular storm.

What is the difference between ACV and RCV roof coverage?

Actual Cash Value subtracts depreciation based on the roof’s age and condition. Replacement Cost Value is based on the covered cost of replacing damaged materials with similar materials, subject to the deductible, policy limits, and completion requirements.

Why was my first insurance payment lower than the repair estimate?

Many replacement-cost policies pay the depreciated Actual Cash Value amount first. The insurer may release the withheld recoverable depreciation after repairs are completed and it receives the final invoice, photographs, and any other required proof.

How does a wind and hail deductible work in Texas?

A wind and hail deductible may be a fixed amount or a percentage of the home’s insured value. It is the homeowner’s responsibility to pay it. Texas contractors cannot legally waive, refund, rebate, or absorb the deductible.

What can I do if the insurance estimate leaves out necessary roof repairs?

Send the insurer clear photographs, measurements, and an itemized contractor estimate showing the omitted work. You may request another review or inspection. The insurance company will then decide whether to revise the repair estimate or coverage decision.
